See clearly...in the dark

IT MIGHT seem odd but now you can see more in the dark. Drivers of the new Mercedes E-Class are already used to this feature. But the makers of the system have gone a step further with 'Night Vision Plus'. The 'Plus' bit means the system can see pedestrians in the dark. Read more by clicking here.

£15 driver training spend saves £250

THE price for the government sponsored Smarter Driving programme has been slashed from £25 per person to just £15.

Smarter Driving lets businesses put staff through skills tuition to coach them to drive more efficiently. By following this government sponsored advice from the Energy Saving Trust, this driving style can save on average up to £250 per person per year in fuel.

BMW and MINI has partnered with the Energy Saving Trust to provide a fleet of cars to support the 'Smarter Driving' programme. "The BMW Group fleet promises to offer participants a dynamic and engaging experience allowing them to easily adopt a Smarter Driving style," commented Steve Chater, corporate operations manager.

New and old: Porsche Spyder roadsters

PORSCHE is launching this all-new and exciting-looking Boxster Spyder in February (above). Its heritage is clear – the 550 Spyder (below).

The 550 Spyder was the first Porsche sports car developed specifically for racing but also homologated for the road.

Weighing only 550kg, this unique Spyder scored numerous victories in the years following its production on the race circuits and in road races popular at the time. The new Spyder is also lightweight – the lightest in the Porsche range – with 320hp from its flat-six engine. Priced from £44,643.

Keep it clear!

IT'S COMMON sense to make sure you can see out of your windscreen in the morning – although judging by what you see some mornings you might wonder – but if you can't see you can get booked.

The law says windscreens and windows must be kept clean and free from obstructions to vision.

Is the personal car lease under threat?

BANKS are under pressure to release more funds to small businesses. Little wonder. Most of the major bank funders of car leasing have been pulling away from the personal lease hire market. How will this affect business owners who want to fund their cars through a personal contract hire lease?. Click here for the full report

What's this community all about?

A GOOD question. It's a forum for you, as readers, to react to stories, or express your opinions. Alternatively you can ask other readers for answers to any business car issues you might have – or share your own experiences.

With this community I'm trying to develop a more personal relationship with you. Rather than being a one-way street I'm fascinated to understand your point of view, hear your opinions. They are important. So why not share them with other readers – it's easy – and there's no charge!

My, how Volvo is changing

AND YOU thought Volvos were dull and boring. In fact, a bit like this: the old 7 series. Bullet proof but that's about it. Well I'm not sure what the designers have been on, but the new S60 sure looks…well…(whisper it)…desirable! Click here to see it.

Refuelling in the future

What will it be like to refuel in the future? With only a zero-emission battery charging your company car, will you have to stop and plug in to power up? Renault doesn't think so. In fact, refuelling in the future will be quicker and easier than it is today with 'quick drop' fuelling stations where you replace your exhausted battery pack for a fully charged battery pack Ð and all in three minutes. Here's a quick animated film for your glimpse into the future
